WOUND

Ten years was a long time age.

Ten years was as old as a long decade.

Ten tears, they said, the world changed a lot.

Ten years, and a new generation is there almost.

Ten years, they said, time'd heal all wounds.

But ten years, at the pain of his desertion, her heart still gnawed.

DOWN MEMORY LANE

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 49; the forty-ninth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "DOWN MEMORY LANE" | ( Three inter-linked 55 Fiction )

  1. The Sign...

Down memory lane her mind went, remembering the first time she held his tiny body in her arms. All the labour pain and the pungent hospital stench forgotten, when the nurse handed her the little bundle of joy, her baby! His tiny fingers curled into hers ~ a sign, that he’d always follow her guidance.

  2. The Promises...

Down memory lane her mind went, remembering the first time he had come running with blood smeared in his hands. In school, getting involved in a brawl and unable to control his anger, he had smashed his classmate’s head with a metal-rod. She faced everyone defending him, after his promises never to lose his cool.

  3. The End...

Down memory lane her mind went, remembering those broken promises, year after year; when alas, she realized, she had given birth to a monster. A rapist son, she shot him dead. Maybe she shouldn’t have defended him all those years, she reminisced, clasping the prison-bars tight, with tears trickling down the corners of her eyes.

APOLOGY - 55 FICTION

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 48; the forty-eight edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "APOLOGY" | ( Two inter-linked 55 Fiction )

  1. The Apology Note...

She woke up to a terrible headache. Her head still had a slight bump, where he hit her with an iron rod. Her body ached as she tried to drag herself out of bed. The sheets felt wet; he had raped her till she bled. In the mirror an Apology note was stuck, as usual!

  2. No More Apology...

With disgust she tore the Apology note. It was his usual game. She’d been bearing the brunt of his sadist whims, almost everyday. That night as the torture resumed, she was ready. Her hand clutched the knife tight; waiting to strike. As he pulled her harshly towards him, she stabbed him. No more Apology notes!

WATCHED!

Theme for Nov 1, 2013 'WOW' : ‘On Being Watched!’ This time your entry must contain, ‘One thing he/she/they didn’t know that they were being watched.’ ( set of 55 fictions )

  1. Shop Lifter...

An actress sat fidgeting; another story was being narrated.
Usual boring routine it was.

Acting, movies, studios, lights – that’s all she knew.
She wanted a change now, an adventure!

Bored, she walked off midway. She strolled into a mall.
Picking things stealthily, she walked out.

‘One thing she didn’t know that she was being watched.’

  2. Making Out...

“Oh my baby, I can’t wait anymore,” he urged seductively, running his fingers all over her.

Behind, the waves of the seas roared upon the rocks.
Uuumm…aahh, she moaned.

They were both at their favourite hideout-spot, making out.

‘One thing they didn’t know that they were being watched.’
A havaldar nearby soon cracked upon them.

  3. Tenant's Pickle...

Tinku and Pinku looked around. It was deserted noon-time.

“You go first.” Tinku said. They were breaking into their tenant’s apartment.
They couldn’t resist the ‘pickle-achar’ whose aroma wafted upto the children’s room upstairs.

As they broke in, they heard a shuffle behind. The watchman glared.
If only they knew, they were being watched.

SOUND EXPRESSIONS

Theme for Oct 11, 2013 'WOW' : ‘Sound Expressions!’ This weekend your post must contain at least five sound words! ( set of inter-related 55 fictions )

  1. Vroom...

“Anna! When is it coming?” The group of gals sat around the watchman of the old Haveli, listening to the story of the infamous biker ghost.
“Wait...you’ll hear him soon,” the watchman looked at them amusedly.
“He’s just joking. Let’s go sleep now,” one of them said.
Just then VROOOOOOM, a ghostly bike went past.

  2. Splash...

“Was it seriously the biker ghost?” Tia asked, “I thought he was joking, a prank.”
They were in the washroom of the old Haveli, splashing water on their tired faces.
“But I swear I heard the vroom noise of the bike. All of us did,” Simi spoke up.
“Alas, there was no bike in sight!”

  3. Crash...

CRASHHHHHHHH……

A loud noise outside caught their attention.
“What was that?” Tia asked, “It sounded like some huge tree falling.”
“Let’s go outside and see,” Simi was curious.
“No, I think we should stay inside,” Mona was the most timid of them all.
Bang…the door banged heavily just then.
“What’s going on?” All were spooked.

  4. Growl...

“This place is giving me the creeps!” Mona said, frightened as the door continued to bang heavily.
Whooooosh….suddenly the lights went out.
“Get some candles quick! I spotted them on the dressing drawer,” Tia ordered.
“Yes, I got them,” Simi lighting one with her lighter.
A loud GROWL came then, from outside the broken window.

  5. Pitter-Patter...

Hearing the growl, all of them froze. They held each other’s hands. Vrroom… sound of the phantom bike came again from a distance.
Pitter-patter the rain was starting to pour heavily.
BANGGG….The front door continued to be banged.
“Open up…..”A growling voice commanded from outside.
Mona peeped out and saw the watchman. But he looked different.

  6. Buzzz...

“It’s a monster!” Mona cried. The watchman resembled a scary monster now. He had grown twice his size, with protruding teeth and claws. “The watchman…he has become a monster,” she whispered shakily, teeth clattering.
“What nonsense!” Tia tried to be brave.
“I swear! What will we do now?”

BUZZZZZZZZ….the morning alarm rang. Mona jumped awake.

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "SWEET AND SOUR" | ( Both two 55 fictions in poem format below are connected to each other )

Sweet and sour was his love,
One moment, he would grab her,
Rub his face against her cheeks,
And, rest his head on her shoulder,
Whispering sweet nothings…
Next moment, he’d push her angrily away,
Showering a volley of abuses,
A daily routine it was, inescapable,
Crazy passionate love making,
Followed by, violent mood swings.

  2. The Maggi...

The Maggi was cooking in the pot,
Sweet and sour, it was hot,
She had this plan to surprise her hubby,
Since long...
Today was his birthday;
She slowly mixed in the poison,
A perfect opportunity she had finally seen,
After all though the violent times she’d been,
As he ate, the Maggi killed him.

THE BIRTHDAY

She hated it. It was her birthday today,
Yet, she had none to spend it with.
An orphan, it was always this way,
She had none to call her own.
No one turned up, no one called.
She got up and went outside,
Saw some street children playing.
She called them, bought cakes
And celebrated!

  1. The first glance...

It was my friend’s wedding. Anxiously, I looked around. And then I spotted him. He stood there, a drink in his hand, talking to his friends, unaware of me. I loved what I saw. Elegance and looks to die for! Minutes ticked by, donno how many. Suddenly, he turned. Our eyes met, and I blushed….

  2. Asking out...

He asked me out on phone. I was bit nervous. He had gotten my number through my best friend. His voice made me weak on my knees. It was the first time we talked on phone, yet it seemed we did that often. “You mesmerized me on that wedding day,” he said. And I blushed.

  3. The date...

He sat opposite me in the candle lit restaurant. It was a perfect setting for love birds. But I was nervous, and good thing was, so was he. It was our first date. We stared at each other. We kept silent. We looked around. But something had clicked forever, we both knew. And I blushed.

❤❀❤

  4. The courtship...

Our first date was awkward. But we both knew instantly in our hearts that ours was a relation for keeps. We met again, and again, at common places we knew both would be present. We grew comfortable. One day at a party, he came near me and said, “We should go steady,” and I blushed.

  5. The phone call...

We’ve been dating four years now. I’ve been waiting for him to pop the ultimate question – yes, of marriage. That’s how relationships culminate. But he was getting busier by the day. Gone for days, ‘cos of his work. I was getting worried. The phone rang suddenly, “Will you marry me?” he asked. And I blushed.

  6. And finally...

Finally, today is our wedding day. It was on a wedding day we had first met. Sitting by my side, in groom’s clothes, he is looking very handsome. Friends and relatives are coming to wish us. We are feeling so blessed. He gives a mischievous look at me, indicating the night ahead. And I blushed!

WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL

Theme for Jul 5, 2013 'WOW' : ‘When you say nothing at all…’ Write a post with this line in it. ( Note : Though each of the 55 fiction ( silent conversation ) sets below are complete in itself, they are all interlinked in 6 parts :-)

  1. Are you mine?

I was newly married to you. Though you were a stranger for me, I started loving you. Every moment of my life revolved around you. I came to know that you had a past, but I didn’t mind that. You were mine, atleast I thought so. But it hurts, when you say nothing at all.

  2. Maybe, I’d try!

Yes, I married you. Yes, I had a past that I’ll always cherish more than the arrangement I’ve been forced with you. Yes, I know your feelings, but you keep the pain with you, silent. You don’t question, why I can’t forget my past. Maybe I’d try, but how? When you say nothing at all.

  3. Far Away...

I know you are no longer mine. You’ve married and moved on. We are so far apart now. You wanted to make your parents happy and compromised on our love. I still yearn for you. I thought of many times to contact you. I cried silently, I still do when you say nothing at all.

❤❀❤

  4. Not meant to be.

I want a divorce. I tell you that I’m not interested in this marriage anymore. It’s a lie, maybe you know that too. I want to set you free. I want you to go back to your first love. Be really happy which we both are not meant to, when you say nothing at all.

  5. Setting free!

I’m surprised at the notice you’ve sent me. I thought you loved me and I was willing to try too. But if seperation is what’ll make you happy, I won’t come in the way. I was forgetting my past and getting fonder towards you. Maybe, its best this way, when you say nothing at all.

  6. The secret...

Thank you, for the divorce consent. You are free now. I didn’t want to keep you trapped. I wanted atleast one of us to be happier. There’s one secret I’ve never told. I’ve been suffering a while, from cancer. I am going to die soon. But, there’s no more need to say anything at all.

ON A RAINY DAY - 55 FICTION

Theme for Jun 28, 2013 'WOW' : 'On a Rainy day…!' Write a post starting with this line. ( Note : Though each of the 55 fiction sets below are complete in itself, they are interlinked in 3 parts :-)

  1a. Lost Love...

On a Rainy Day…drenched, he rushed to the road side inn. New town, with electricity cut off, it was difficult to get a proper view.

A woman approached, lamp in hand. “Who is it, we are closed today.”
A familiar voice. Stunned, he froze as she came near.

It was her, his long lost love!

  1b. Fate...

She couldnot believe her eyes. He looked the same, even after so many years!

Only now, manly contours had replaced the boyish charms.
The lamp shook in her trembling hands.

It was on a rainy day, they had parted ways to cruel fate. She married, got widowed.
On a rainy day again, they finally met.

  1c. ReUnite...

“Sameer”
“Asha”
Both spoke at the same time. Still surprised at fate’s new twist!

Suddenly, he crushed her in his arms, words were no longer needed. She felt same, smelt same. He knew she had married, but didn’t know she was a widow.

She too loved that familiar feeling.
On that rainy day, they re-united.

❤❀❤

  2a. The hooker...

It was on a rainy day, she stood at her usual spot by the corner of the notorious street.
Puffing a cigarette, she looked anxiously at the passing cars.

Will she be lucky today, she wondered. Hunger panged at her, as thunders growled in the skies.

At last a car stopped, her eyes lit up.

  2b. Stunned...

On a rainy day, tired, he returned home earlier than usual. Marriage troubles had taken a toll on their lives, and he was determined to make up.

Maybe wife will love a surprise when she returned from office, he thought.

As he opened the door, he stood stunned.
His wife was in another man’s arms.

  2c. Rebound...

Shocked at what he saw, he just rushed out. Drove the car aimlessly like a maniac!

How could she do this to me, he thought furious. The image of his wife with another man, still vivid!

He wanted to forget it all.

Finally on that rainy day, he saw the hooker. And stopped his car!

1. Destined to be poor.

The woman on platform number.10 spotted a lottery ticket.
"I have no use of it," she thought as she picked it.

She thought of selling. Atleast, she could buy some food and medicines for her son.
For 100Rs a man bought it.

It was the winning number, he searched,
but the woman had already vanished!!

2. Manifestation or real?

Harry always spotted the woman on platform number.10, sitting at the same spot.
Sometimes he saw people throwing coins at her; sometimes they didn’t seem to notice her at all.

One night he was at the platform, and saw the lady.
She looked up at him indignantly, just then he saw someone walk through her!

3. Escaped, but...

The train had arrived. The woman on platform number 10 rushed towards it.

“Is he there?” “Has he come?” she asked the passengers, looking anxiously through each window, her eyes searching desperately.

“There she is! Catch her before she escapes again,” someone ordered.
“Let me go, he’s come,” she resisted.
“Meet him in the asylum!”

4. Undercover!

The woman on platform number.10 stood uncomfortably. Some rowdies stared, eve-teased and whistled at her.

Then, BOOM BOOM, some terrorists surrounded the platform ready to create trouble.
Rowdies were held hostage too!

The woman pressed secret button, within minutes commandos arrived. She joined in too, shot at the terrorists.

Undercover cop, she saved their lives!

5. Hopeless Hope!

The woman on platform number 10 arrived eagerly. Her son will come to take her back today, she thought happily.

Hours passed no sign of him.
It was night and getting late.

“Come Amma, time to go back,” she saw the attendant from the old age home. “He’ll never come.”

Sadly, the woman walked back.
