No, the Pubs and Discos doesn't impress, Those were the days when I was a naughty toddler, So, when things get stuffy, I'd often get suffocated, I wish I were that child again non-obligated. I hop on a train or bus to escape the city I so abhor, Only 'cos I do not get my daily supply of fresh nature I so adore. As the train leaves the city and rushes uphill, My heart leaps in joy anticipating lots of thrills. Tunnels, water-bodies even the elegant bull nandi, All greets and wishes me a pleasant journey. My journey continues across length and breadth, Covering simple pleasures of nature that I always seek. Look! While the coconut and bananas may seem ordinary, Notice the colours that makes them extra-ordinary? Green and Yellow coconut or the red banana, Looks so pretty, so unique; While the fish reminds me, of its hay days spent underneath seas. I spot a rooster and a peacock, Waiting side-by-side for the morning sun. A slight movement makes them aware, What follows is a wild-goose chase. They run, I chase; hoping not to offend, In the end they do pose, petite pretty, Making my nature seeking camera so happy! While the stray dog sits relaxed, Under the shade of a shack, I can't help noticing foot-prints left, On the beach by some animal exotic. I follow it to find dwellings of the crabs, As they jump and sputter the sea waves, The sight of a cow and its calf too, Is enthralling no less! |
The jungles, mountains; I love to trek them all, Green gardens makes me go 'wow', Even open fields, filled with grazing goats and cows, Man-made shark amuses me no end, It's majestic presence in the oceans, I still bow. Green, green and more green, Refreshes mind and spirit instantly, There's simply no place better than nature's lap, Where I wanna spend away my time merrily! Watching a snail cross its path, for hours, Or the pretty colourful blooming flowers, Is there any other pleasure that can ever tempt, The child in me who enjoys these natural delights? I stroll the beach collecting sea shells, Wondering about the lives it held once, within, Nothing compares to the thrills nature gives, For I'm part of nature too, as I soak it all in. I catch two rainbows up in the sky, Yes, they appear one after another, Myth busted, that two rainbows don't exist, Am I lucky or what, to witness this, I wonder! The long highways, barren or rowed with trees, Me; they never cease to amaze, On the road, as the journey propounds, Even a pink lotus in a pond give joys abound. My pursuit continues and I'm so determined, Spotting monkeys is now not enough, I opt for the wild. I want to walk into where those bold beauties reside, That's when I catch the safari that promises thus. Wild buffaloes, families of elephants; I meet, Them in their wild homes; I'm the nervous guest. As I watch a black bear munching away, the gates open further, Taking right up to the lions; brown & yellow stripped tigers. Unbelievable are these sights that appear left and right, Spotting them everywhere, I hop like a playful child. Moments of joys, these; alas in cities, I could never find! |
Leaving the overwhelming safari, I'm yet still not done, The sun does a peek-a-boo with the clouds hovering above, The clouds who in turn caresses the green hills high, Bushy corridors and mazes mesmerizes; While the green leaves shelters from sudden drizzles. The wind-mills picks up on cue as the wind blows hard, All in perfect rhythm, playing nature's choir, I sprawl out on the ground watching this magic show, Who says I'm not a child no-more? The hills, the fields, the palm trees, or open seas, |
Being one with nature is being in Kissanpur! |
