Blessed indeed are we to see
The vibrant colours of life,
Bringing living things and objects around,
As well as our emotions alive.
For a moment let’s ponder,
If the world is stripped of its colours,
Would our feelings and emotions remain same?
Would we love the earth as much, I wonder.
If all is monotonous black or white,
Or maybe odd shade of grey in between,
Our lives would be as lifeless and static,
Until splashed is, varied colours within.
The bright orange sun lit mornings,
After the black dark night before,
Reflects the greenery around such,
Bliss to our eyes and health,
Never a sore.
The blue-green mesmerizing vast waters,
Mirrors the colourful clouds
and birds that fly above,
Every moment its changing colours,
Leaves us spellbound.
As days pass, colour of sky or nature changes drastic,
Bringing so much changes to our daily lives,
The clothes we wear, food we eat,
The work and activities we do,
All a colourful display, myriad.
We go on in life, as colours guide us,
As important as our lives itself,
Place a while, in a blind man’s shoes,
only see the dark,
Realize, so fortunate we are.

i couldn't imagine a life in just black and white... i think we're made to see colors and we need them as well... i have seen blind people paint... i find it amazing and i wonder if they in some way feel the colors even though they cannot see them

DeleteI can't imagine not being able to see what the world has for us. Having had some bizarre eye problems which come and go, I really value when my eyesight is good. A beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteeyes sight is most precious gift we got...actually everything is precious..but with eye sight we can see and value earth's beauty
DeleteYes I had a neighbor once who only saw in black and white. He grew the most beautiful and fragrant roses. They won prizes. I couldn't walk by his house without saying something about the vibrancy of their colors and then looked up to see him looking so sad.
ReplyDeleteThe gift of color is amazing. I praise it (and of course running hot water) every day.
