TAKING PART IN CONTESTS

It is after quite a long time that I'm taking part in a contest related to writing i.e Get Published Contest powered by Indiblogger and HarperCollins.
The first writing contest that I had ever taken part and entered was years back when I was in school.I used to send my entries by post regularly for various essays, poems, short stories and other caption writing contests that the local newspaper held every Sunday ( on their Children's corner supplement )

Many times I won and it was indeed a thrilling experience to see my contribution getting recognition and being published. The prize amount ( often 50/100/300 bucks those days ) were my most cherished treasures. Those of you who did the same like me would understand what I am talking about.
Many of the other school students, even those seniors than me too used to come and ask me about my entries & winning. It indeed boosted up my spirits and made me swell with pride. It may have been small but was an achievement nonetheless. So,in short it was an activity I loved and actively pursued.

Though the writing bug never really left me, already having self-published several titles on Amazon Kindle as well as keeping this blog active, I had somehow totally stopped participating in any writing contests.Until now of course.
Quite accidently I came across the 'indiblogger' blogging community and the first day I landed on its forum, the first thing that I noticed was the thread announcing the 'Get Published Contest'.
At first I ignored it because I thought that I had lost that competitive spirit long back.I was not a school kid anymore.Infact I was quite happy and content with my life as it was.
But everyday as I logged on the site ( to check my indiranks of course ) that particular thread would instantly catch my eye.It is a sticky thread you see,so you cant help noticing it..lol )
More I saw it more a voice inside me said 'why not'? As the voice grew louder every passing day I felt increasingly restless just as I used to feel during my school days when I used to take part in writing contests.

I already write a lot,and short stories ( specially love ones ) are my forte and it seemed an ideal thing to do.I could easily manage to juggle a few thousand words for sure. So,there even before I stopped thinking,I had already started scribbling like an excited school kid and before I knew it I had already entered the 'submit' button on the Get Published Contest page.

I'm somewhat a late entrant in the contest ( it had started way back in Aug while I gave in my entry in Nov end ) with hundreds of people who had already sent in their entries. But it surely is an exciting concept. Real Love in New India!
If not for winning then surely the experience of participating would be enough and worth it.As they say "Winning is secondary, taking part is the real deal!"
So here I am, getting back in touch back with my competitive spirits.Being selected would of course be an extra perk!

So with my entry now up I await the final verdict with my fingers crossed, feeling exactly as I used to do when I was in school, waiting eagerly with bated breaths for the contest results every Sunday.
Same anticipation ..same nervousness ..same fluttering stomach.Okay now I'm exaggerating :-)

Now the important part. The only way to get my story selected is for it to get votes ( by maximum amount of 'likes' ) so now it is upto you - the honourable readers to help me out here and drive my entry on the winning track. ( I feel I am on the Formula 1 race track right now, but my ferrari needs your push..lol! )
Here is the STORY ENTRY POST and here is the VOTE LINK for you to click!
LIKE IT if you want to see my entry selected and published. And for course many heartfelt thanks for the same
~ Love n Cheers Nandini Deka
