He was the pilot of his life, and this spot ~ his cockpit, his mother would often say.
He spent his entire life paralyzed, here; his mother, his co-pilot would sit in the chair next to his.
They'd zoom through the entire neighborhood through this single window, his only outlet to the outside world.
Today, he was old, frail; his disability worsened, and his co-pilot no more in this world.
She was the only one who made him feel alive ~ so loved and cared for.
One day soon, he'd meet up with her, till then all he could do was wait.

A warm and bleak reading of the image
ReplyDeletethanks for reading... :-)
DeleteOne part of me is happy he had a bonded relationship with his mother. The other part of me feels his mother stole his life and continues even beyond the grave. I like the ambiguousness of your story, Nandini.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tale of their lives.
ReplyDeleteTenderly written ❤️
ReplyDeleteSo very sad. - Sandra C
ReplyDeleteKind of sad, and yet comforting in its own way too. I hope they have since been reunited.
ReplyDeleteAs long as he's happy. But maybe he needs a visit to shake things up?
ReplyDeleteDedication and trust are both essential for every carer - co-pilots.
ReplyDeleteA sad story. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteWell, that sure tugged at my heart!
ReplyDeleteA tragic tale, Nandini.

I've known disabled people whose only caretaker was mom. When she was gone, the child, now an adult, had a very hard time. A beautiful and sad story.
ReplyDeletewhat a sad story. perhaps he should consider moving to a senior living facility.
