MISSING CO-PILOT

He was the pilot of his life, and this spot ~ his cockpit, his mother would often say.

He spent his entire life paralyzed, here; his mother, his co-pilot would sit in the chair next to his.

They'd zoom through the entire neighborhood through this single window, his only outlet to the outside world.

Today, he was old, frail; his disability worsened, and his co-pilot no more in this world.

She was the only one who made him feel alive ~ so loved and cared for.

One day soon, he'd meet up with her, till then all he could do was wait.

  2. One part of me is happy he had a bonded relationship with his mother. The other part of me feels his mother stole his life and continues even beyond the grave. I like the ambiguousness of your story, Nandini.

  14. I've known disabled people whose only caretaker was mom. When she was gone, the child, now an adult, had a very hard time. A beautiful and sad story.
