I DO NOT THINK IT MEANS WHAT YOU THINK IT MEANS
Extreme distrust, the two siblings were never on the same page,
No matter what one said, the other always had to disagree or oppose,
Always hunting if there was any ulterior motive; although, there was none,
Sibling rivalry gone to unrecoverable extremes,
Jealously and insecurity filled to its brim,
No mediation worked, neither, any therapy,
Distrust ate both their worlds,
When in reality, none had really caused the other any harm,
Yet, the gnawing mistrust that only grew instead of being subsided...
Both tired of telling the other - I do not think it means what you think it means :|
Even after death, both in heaven ( or hell? or purgatory? ) repeating in a loop -
I do not think it means what you think it means!

Oh dear! One of the best pieces of advice I ever had about relationships was, 'Be willing to be wrong sometimes.' Your battling siblings seem never to have learnt that lesson.
ReplyDeleteah siblings! can be the best relationship, or the worst. often at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHow sad this is... I often regret I am an only child, but your poem brings to the fore the familial hazard of sibling rivalry... Not what siblings are meant to.
ReplyDeleteI have cousins who are siblings, and haven't spoken in. years. No reason I have ever been able to discern.
ReplyDeletethanks everyone :-)
