The soil on her skin, made her open her eyes. As she lay, they were shoveling the last bit of earth into the pit. Then, it was pitch-black!
No! This can’t be happening, she thought, as she heard distant sounds of prayers, muffled. They can’t bury her like this!
She remembered the snake-bite that spread venom in her body. But, she wasn’t dead! She tried to wriggle out, from the heap of earth that was dumped over her.
Wait..don’t leave me like this, she tried to yell; but the mourners above weren’t distracted. If only, she realised, she was indeed dead.
