She was beautiful, a dream of every man; a dream, until her very core was damaged by an unscrupulous brute, bruising not just her body but her soul ~ leaving her in a state of shock, naked.
Desperate, she sought revenge, lying restless wondering how to punish her violator.
Revenge, however sweet, wouldn’t really give the peace of mind she had lost, would it, a saner mind would try to hush her soul.
Alas, she chopped off her hair, changed her attire and one day walked off, to a place she’d never been.
Would the changes finally heal the wounds within?

I'm glad her wounds were healed within.
ReplyDeleteWow...very intense and powerful.
ReplyDeleteI hope the change/s work for her. Great response to this week's prompt.
ReplyDeleteHad an abusive first marriage so your poem's fairly poignant to me! That was over 25 years ago and I've been walking the path of domestic peace ever since. - Soon good on your gal - she'll heal.
ReplyDeleteOne can only hope. An interesting take on the prompts.
