The greedy corporate were buying up the plots fast! Before long, almost the entire place was swallowed. They had only profits in mind.
Now they were chasing after Miss.Lizzy – the 60 year old spinster who refused to sell-up unlike many others. This tiny plot of land was all that was left of her ancestors and she didn’t want to surrender it to the wolves not yet. What they knew, how much valued these precious salt-fields were? Even a walk over them was like a therapy.
With a cane in her hand, she stood guarding – dare you snatch it from her!

Good for her - with a name like that, how could she be defeated? x Lizy
ReplyDeleteI love Miss Lizzy. She deserves to win. And a great comment on the corporations and greed.
ReplyDeleteMs. Lizzy looks like a formidable foe. Charming take.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Miss Lizzy! Knowing the unique history of these salt fields, I love to imagine that the locals would indeed fight for them. Well told, Nandini!
ReplyDeleteMiss Lizzy is awesome! Your story is so relevant.
ReplyDeleteNandini, The greedy never have enough to satisfy them. Well written. :) ---Susan
ReplyDeleteGood use of the prompt. A familiar situation: the 'oldie' standing in the way of 'progress' aka 'money'. :)
