I don't wanna remember,
the worries you gave,
the pain you inflicted,
the callousness you showed....
I don't wanna remember,
those torturous days,
those morbid memories,
of cruelty galore...
I don't wanna remember,
the past anymore,
not an ounce of it,
I wanna be free of it...
I don't wanna remember,
the pain,
the scorn,
the betrayal,
the humiliation...
I don't wanna remember,
anything that reminds me of you,
that still binds me to you,
not even you...
I want to forget it all,
Cos' I'm starting my life anew,
I want nothing of my past,
to lay a shadow on my present...
I'm happy not remembering
anything at all...
This is an understandable wish and process. And takes great self-discipline and, perhaps, self-understanding. You describe the wish very well. Thanks so much for participating. k.
ReplyDeletethanks for the prompt :-)
DeleteThis wish to forget is so true... but it's hard to forget... one need a cushion of soft memories to bury them in... I feel for you.

Deletethere are those people and those moments you def dont want to have to remember...it is a blessing to forget...
ReplyDeletethanks for reading :-)
DeletePutting them aside and not looking back is hard to do but it uses less of one's soul and energy...something I need to strive for at least.;)
ReplyDeleteyep...its very hard, thank @kkkkaty
DeleteTo move forward is important - yet once we "forget" we run the risk of repeating it. Yes, it is important to push it aside though, take it out rarely.
ReplyDeletethank you @Margaret!
DeleteSometimes remembering to forget is the best memory of all! Well done!
ReplyDeletethanks!
DeleteI absolutely love this poem, Nandini. I've never been one to dwell on the past. To forget is to be free.
