The honk in the lane would announce his arrival,
the blare of it, audible, across radius of the town,
I'd watch in anticipation from the veil of my curtain,
as with spunk and swag he'd reach her doorstep, without fail...
My heart would writhe in pain as everyday I'd watch this familiar scene,
in her gorgeous best, him, she'd always be accompaning,
the neighbourhood too used to the couple's grand exit and entry,
romance between the dashng duo, never missed by any...
No one knew or cared for the crush I had on him,
he, I doubt, even was aware of my very being,
never could I dare to go out and meet him,
not, with my very ugly face, and, my shrinking self-esteem...
Accepting my fate, I stood glued to my everyday spot,
behind the curtain as I helplessly watched,
but, to my surprise today he took a different turn, and stopped,
not at the gate opposite, but the driveway that instead led to my house...
I opened the door when the bell rang, and he stood outside,
my-oh-my speeachless I was, as his eyes implored mine,
'where were you all my life', his husky voice whispered,
pulling me towards him, as his warm lips brushed across mine...
Thousands of fireworks burst inside my mind,
dizzy and overwhelmed alas I got my charming prince, my shining knight,
when a loud horn startled and shook me out of what was a day-dream,
lasting barely few seconds, I was brought back to the earthly realm...
I was still at my usual spot, standing, behind the same curtain,
and I watched helplessly as they both drove off,
to watch the real fire-works of this New Year's night,
me, a non-existant entity, in their lives or in any of their plans..

Excellent! Tearjerker, makes me sad to read. Did rub my eyes.
