THAT AUTUMN!

I look out of the window,
I see the clouds race each other,
The birds too fly high; their wings, a constant flutter,
Everything has a goal, everyone has a purpose,
All, except my life, has seem to come to a halt unlike another...

That autumn, around the same time,
I was so opposite of who I currently am,
Then too I used to watch the clouds race fast and birds fly,
But, then, I had your arms wrapped around, sharing those delights together...

This autumn, my life has come to a complete standstill,
To celebrate anything like before, I no longer possess a will,
Nothing holds my interest or distract me from the loneliness,
Nothing or no one can replace the empty void you've left me with...

  3. I feel the weight in your poem of your loss, of heartache and loneliness. A very valid feeling and I hope these heavy curtains of mist disappear soon

  5. Oh yes, I have much fellow-feeling here! Except, it is the advent of Spring which is my sad anniversary ... same time of year as yours, though, being as I'm in the Southern Hemisphere. I like the way you write of it, both beautiful and straightforward.

  8. So much can change in our lives from one year to the next. The world turns topsy-turvy and we do feel "different", or "opposite" as you quite rightly say. I enjoyed this poignant poem.

  9. Life will have its hurts and sobs. Mine did for three years until I was rescued. Been married 52 years this time. Sobs are gone, hurts are still there but mostly forgotten.

  10. It's odd how a year can seem like a whole lifetime ago. I hope for a gentle winter and a spring filled with warmth for you.
