When they first married, he had promised her the moon, the stars ~ the entire universe. Trust me, he’d always say; and she did blindly.
She saw the first signs of the initial romance wearing off, when he started coming late. Must be all the work, she forgave; ever hopeful that things might turn like old times again.
Then he became indifferent, hardly acknowledging her presence, at times even snapping her back. Bad time at work perhaps, she tried to reason, being tolerant.
Until the day, she spotted lipstick marks in his shirt. Cheated, her mind since filled with distrust.
