Kolkatta kali-bari Kolkatta,
A song, I used to chant, since long...
City of Joy, as its widely known,
has contrasts that needs, serious re-thought.
Calcutta, once a thriving colonial British capital,
now, lay in the crux of almost economical decline.
While its archaeological splendour speaks volumes
of its magnificent past,
the neglect and the decay is though now,
clearly evident.
My romance with the city has been on and off,
Its delicacies and cuisines are, I'm loyal fan of,
Stylish bengali belles never fail to impress,
Wish, soon, the city's former glory is retained.
