THE FAMILY HOLIDAY

Finland, 1968, photo by George F. Mobley

It was a large family,
Healthy, cheerful and happy.
All were set for the ultimate holiday,
In the hills, where they planned to play.
So, the journey began
From their humble home-town,
Children, adults, couples and elders,
They counted each head, several times.
Yet, as they landed,
to their horror they found,
By mistake, they had left
their tiniest one back.

This post is for Magpie Tales 216 - The picture reminded me of the movie 'Home Alone' staring Macauly Culkin.

  4. There is a creepiness brought up by the word "head," which gets gloomier with the thought of the "tiniest one" left behind.
