THE TREE

Every day the child heard it. The voice, that came from the tree calling out his name softly.

“Mama, it’s calling me again,” the child would run and tell his mother.
“It’s nothing my baby. It’s just the wind blowing,” his mother never believed him.

The wicked witch who lived in the tree was happy that the mother disbelieved. Easy meal for her! She called again and saw the child approaching curiously.

Damn! Did that dog have to come along everyday too? The wicked witch thought angrily. The dog could see her and always protected the child by climbing up.

  2. Dear Nandini,

Here's hoping that dog likes the taste of wicked witch. Nice take on the prompt.
