WISH I DIDNT EAT THE APPLE

le Jardin, 1962, by Max Ernst

Wish I didn’t eat the apple,
In the Garden of Eden,
In such shame thus,
I wouldn’t have hidden.
Tempted I was,
Disobedient to the Almighty,
When the cunning snake
Lied and tricked me.
One bite was all it took,
Ruined with God was, our unity,
Snatched and disrobed
We were, of our purity.
We were left on our own in Satan’s lair,
Shamed and cast-away forever!
Wish I didn’t eat the apple,
In the Garden of Eden,
In such shame thus,
I wouldn’t have hidden.
